Orange County Psychodrama Training Group for Professionals

In this ongoing Orange County Psychodrama Training Group for Professionals, participants will learn specific action methods techniques, such as sociometry, psychodrama and group psychotherapy, will have the opportunity to practice them and to explore how they can be applied to their current clientele.

TOPICS WILL INCLUDE:

Engaging and motivating clients
Helping clients connect to self and others
Helping clients progress in treatment
Building group cohesion
Dealing with conflict in group
Most professionals who train in psychodrama do not go on to pursue certification, but are keen to learn effective techniques that they can ethically practice with their clients. This group is open to therapists, counselors, interventionists, bodyworkers, treatment center front-line staff, coaches, teachers, doctors, nurses, attorneys or anyone working in the helping professional who can benefit from utilizing action methods in their work.

Because those of us working in the helping professions find it difficult to find safe spaces in which to do our own work, this group also serves as a place to do that. When training in psychodrama, students direct each other in personal growth psychodramas, allowing for healing and transformation for everyone. Great care is taken to build strong safety, and a commitment to confidentiality is made each time the group meets. Group members have found the group invaluable in pursuing both their personal and professional work and in having an ongoing community of like-minded practitioners with whom they can continue to walk the path of healing and recovery.

Group members must make a 3 consecutive scheduled group weekend commitment to THIS group to start (including financially). Since the dates will be available in advance, the expectation is that group members will attend. If there is a cause for absence, refunds will not be issued. In addition, closure must be done over the course of 2 groups.

A personal interview with our CEO, Jean Campbell, LCSW, TEP, is required before registering for this ongoing training group.

Course meets the qualifications for a total of 26.0 hours of continuing education credit (per group) for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. CAMFT approved CE Provider #123417. Provider approved by CCAPP-EI, Provider Number 2N-10-135-0220 for 26 CEH’S (per weekend). 26 CEHs (per weekend) available for Certified Experiential Therapy (CET) AND Psychodrama.

Action Institute of California is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs and/or LEPs. Action Institute of California maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.

TRANSFORMING THE TRAUMA TRIANGLE

The Therapeutic Spiral Model’s (TSM) “Trauma Triangle” is a unique configuration that clarifes the destructive cycle of victim, perpetrator, and abandoning authority. Indistinction to Karpman’s Triangle, this last role was created by TSM to explain the subtle, yet damaging, presence of someone who was absent—not there to rescue—i.e., there was no appropriate authority.

The Trauma Triangle represents a closed circuit of energy embedded in the personality structure of those who have survived cruelty or trauma, repeating itself as life-long patterns of abuse and neglect. This training provides tools that empower transformation of self-neglect to self-care and that instill healthy problem-solving.

Participants gain a deeper understanding of the internal personality and neurobiological structure of PTSD; learn to integrate TSM’s Prescriptive Roles & Safety Structures into clinical practice, and experience the power and depth of a TSM group process that is used across cultures.

This workshop offers training hours for Psychodrama and can be a stand-alone or foundation course for TSI’s International Certification Program in Trauma Therapy.

Retrieving the Treasure – Returning to Serve, Heal, and Transform the Wasteland

Our 2018 series, which has used myth and the Journey of the Heroine/Hero as a model for healing and transforming ourselves and our world, culminates in this final three-day workshop, which focuses on the Return of the Heroine/Hero.

During phase three, we again draw upon action methods and expressive arts, including the Sociometric Wheel, to help us explore:
• How the Heroine/Hero, who heard the Call and travelled the Journey to retrieve the Treasure, must Return home with those transformational gifts;
• How Global Citizens and Social Artists can nurture community, age consciously, share resources, and actively support the empowerment of all beings;
• The power of joining with kindred spirits in a compassionate community of support, inspiration, encouragement, and celebration; and
• A ‘winter’ of self-care needed to ponder and integrate transformational experience.

Participants will have the opportunity to:
• Identify and reflect upon the gifts they’ve received on the Journey – their Treasure;
• Interact compassionately with others in understanding how they might individually and collectively explore what it means to be Global Citizens and Social Artists;
• Access roles that can deepen their understanding of and experience with action methods and their use; and
• Reflect on how their learning might be incorporated personally and/or applied professionally after the workshop.

Though helpful, it is not necessary to have attended the previous two events. Indeed, as multifaceted beings, in one area of our life, we may be hearing a Call; in another, we may be experiencing the Journey; and in a further area, may be striving to integrate and apply new learning – the Return. The focus of this workshop is on the Return, but the overall heroine/hero’s journey remains the context and will be incorporated into the workshop.

Time: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day
ABE Hours: 18
